Classic logo, (looks even better in 2 colours imo). 

From my in depth investigative reporting (doing more than 3 google searches in a row), I’ve deducted that the logo was designed by one Kathy Fosselman of Fosselman’s, an ice cream parlor in California, where the first Jelly Belly jellybeans were sold, about 38 years ago.
