The New Desktop arrives… It looks amazing, it honestly does, but I study design. I design stuff. Although desktop does cater to the design community, I think a lot of these changes in the redesign will go unnoticed. For graphic design to really get into the mainstream and really inspire reaction and provoke thought in the common man (which it should), a ‘design’ cover isn’t going to do it. Graphics (it’s hard for me to admit this) are boring for covers. And huge amounts of white space are beautiful and eye catching for spreads, but aren’t something that readers will come back to. Magazines have to do so much more nowdays than what they think. Gotta move away from this white and black gird model thats been around for over 75 years now.
