I wonder how quickly this ad will date.
Everything about it feels current: the content, the gestures, interactions, the art direction, the music, the hardware; Yet for that reason, and the nature of technology, it’s helpless to change.
It’s not a bad thing, it’s exciting, and the fact is most websites out there don’t look anywhere near as good as Squarespace’s ‘chosen ones’ means it won’t happen too soon either.
But I’m sure if I watched this video again in 7 years time I’ll laugh at it’s unbearable two thosand and fourteeningess. In 15 years if we haven’t all fireballed yet, we’ll squint at it through two hands.
Exhibit One: This old thing (1997) still stands up, partly because there is no hardware/software.
