October 3, 2009 ☼ Folio
A project based on old methods of production. I chose the hand rendered type. The premise of this piece was the evolutuion of a typeface. Baskerville was developed a few hundred years ago, and was digitized/updated to Mrs Eaves in the mid 90’s. The name came from Sarah Eaves, John’s girl on the side at the time. She helped him make typefaces and was kinda this unknown figure in the history of typography, which i thought was kinda cool.
So this is a sealed/secret letter someone may of uncovered that linked the two ‘hero’s of type’ together’.
‘When & John’ are set in Old Baskerville and hand rendered. ‘met & Sarah’ are in Mrs Eaves roman. paper is Arches hot pressed watercolour/210 gsm
